My trusted shoes are pretty worn out so yesterday I got myself a new pair. The usual advice at RunningGent, go for stability shoes, so I brought home the 14th release of the Asics Kayano. Expensive rubber but then again, I've got plans for this summer!
This morning I went for a test run. Normally I would have run long, like last weekend, but decided to make it an easier run, a slow 10k or so. Everyone knows it's a good idea to break in a new pair of shoes slowly. Besides during the whole of last week I felt some discomfort on the adductor muscles of my right leg. I guess the hard tempo run on Tuesday did not help. This morning after 25 minutes of slow running I had to stop! The shoes felt pretty good but my hip hurt way too much, it just didn't feel safe to continue running. The worst thing was that I had to walk almost 5k to get home...
In the meanwhile I already made a self-diagnosis, Dr. Pribut's pages have already helped me before. I might have a case of iliopsoas tendonitis. I just hope it does not take so much to heal as he says... it would ruin my plan for July...
More to follow (after an easy week). Easy because there won't be any running, for the rest I doubt it will be easy at all.

Milestone
I'm not really that committed to this blog but maybe I should reconsider: it made it to 26m.com! I can't really figure out how that happened but there you are, you too are reading this! ;-)
Now for the "real" milestone, yesterday during my long run I completed 1000km since the start of the log last year! I guess I can now say I am a runner...
The downside is I need a new pair of running shoes. Badly.

McBride Run
The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy so there isn't much time left to post here. Besides, I still have to get the internet connection up and running at my new apartment.
Last Sunday, despite a pretty hard working week and without enough sleep, I managed to run another half-marathon as planned. This time we went to Ypres to take part in the McBride Run. Surprise surprise, despite all that lack of rest, it couldn't have gone any better! I managed a personal best! And not a bad one either. I wanted to beat the 2-hour mark, completing it in 1h50m was a major bonus.
The weather was perfect for distance running, the route had just a few gentle hills and my pacing was nearly perfect. In the process got to 10k fastest than I had ever done before and without really pushing hard at all. I guess finally those hard training sessions in April and early May are paying off. Sustained speed, I like this! :-)
When is the next race?!
